DAY 3:
The rust is starting to come off bit by bit.
I labeled the pictures this time, three 5 minutes and the last is a 20

DAY 2: 26 June 2013 Figure Drawing
Still rusty but it is good to be back on the horse... so to speak... you get the joke right?
The first three are 5-10 minutes each (I think)
The last two are 20 minutes each
DAY 1: 25 June 2013 Figure drawing
DAY 1:
2.5 hours
It has been a year since my last actual figure drawing class. I feel so rusty. But to help motivate me to become better faster I will be posting each day we have class, and probably my sketchbook assignments on days we don't have class.

Heh, forgot to keep posting in all the busy-ness
A couple speed paints (under 10 minutes each) I did a few weeks ago before class. Both are from pictures I got while in Indonesia many years ago. One of my friends took the first one and I took the second.
EDIT: It took me 40 minutes total, 20 each, somehow my brain divided the 20 by 2 and not the 40 by 2...Thats why I'm not an engineer anymore.

So the other day...
I was walking to work after classes
and I heard this old familiar song
I hadn't heard this song in awhile
and as it got louder
I needed to see where it was coming from
A rather unexpected source
A tough looking guy in a sedan
(It's funnier when I think of him in a sports car though)
Obviously I was going to smile
It was a sight to behold, then he...
GLARED
!!
Not my fault he likes Hanson

Digital Cave Painting
I decided to continue working on this tonight, I’m still not happy with it, but I’ll take a look at it tomorrow. Nick artist program here I come!!
Something new
Something I thought of the other day. 1920s-40s detective with tech from the future. On his wrist is a holographic smart watch, thing Robin from Young Justice the animated series (boy will I miss that show) Still working on story ideas, but this is the first sketch I have for it.
A cave I was drawing during a meeting on Saturday. I am still working on it, but I wanted to post something since it’s been awhile. I am applying to the Nick Artist Program at the end of the week and am putting the finishing touches on my portfolio. Crunch time always brings out the best… or sometimes worst. If only I could trick my mind into thinking I have a deadline every morning… hmmm that’s an idea

Mako Fanart WIP
From the Legend of Korra comes Mako, fire bending. I was inspired to do this piece after Bryan Konietzko drew Korra doing a fighting move, Southpaw cross (http://bryankonietzko.tumblr.com/post/44951516362/southpaw-cross#_=_). I have yet to color this one, but will once I finish a few storyboards I'm working on.

Paying attention in meetings
I can always enjoy a meeting or class lecture more when I am drawing. Oddly enough I pay better attention when I sketch over taking notes, occasionally taking a moment to jot down a note here and there, but I thought it extra ironic when a meeting I was in was about "Active Listening"...
Gotta love it
I also like putting myself in my work, you can see my leg and sketchbook down at the bottom of the page

One Year Ago...
...I was in California with the Illustration department at BYU visiting animation and video game studios. We met lots of great artists and the experience was a great one. This week the Illustration dept is in New York, kinda exciting, but I didn't go cause the price was a bit higher this year, and animation is more my gig, but I would like publishing too, picture books and what not.
Well here is a sketch from last year that I did of the hotel we were at.
