Something Old

Figured it was about time to post this video I was commissioned to make a few months ago for Sandra Rast. It is her original painting, Snowy Temple, but she had me add the music, animate the snow falling, add the Christmas lights and sunset. It was a huge learning experience done in Photoshop and oddly enough windows movie maker. Now that I know After Effects I could do this without all the workarounds.

Some 30 Minute digital speed paintings

Here are a few of the Digital paintings that I have been doing each day. Sometimes I reference a picture other times it is straight out of my head. All of these took about 30 minutes each and I start each drawing on the computer no pencil sketch first, all digital. Enjoy.

Comic Con Korra Fan Art contest entry... sorta

I was working out an old idea I never finished for the Comic Con Korra Fan Art contest by korranation.tumblr.com, and submitted it and went to class.  When I came home I realized I liked the idea of having the firebending symbol behind Mako and not above his head. So, this one I like better, but it is not in the running to be shown at comic con... oh well.

DAY 9: Figure drawing...

I still need more practice at faces with nupastel.... pen, pencil, stylus, finger, eraser..... sure, no problem.... BUT nupastel is just tough for me.  that's all

DAY 8: 9 July 2013

This 50 minute one was probably closer to an hour, but I don't remember, we don't have a clock in the class room.

DAY 7

My favorite from class so far and a couple 5 minute poses.

DAY 6: need more practice

I personally like this 20 minute pose, I didn't get all the shading in that I wanted, but I still really like it.

DAY 4

DAY 4
I need to work on hands and feet and necks and faces and .... nupastel is tricky, or should I say drawing this big is tricky. I'm used to small

DAY 3: 27 June 2013

DAY 3:

The rust is starting to come off bit by bit.
I labeled the pictures this time, three 5 minutes and the last is a 20

DAY 2: 26 June 2013 Figure Drawing

 DAY 2

Still rusty but it is good to be back on the horse... so to speak... you get the joke right?

The first three are 5-10 minutes each (I think)
The last two are 20 minutes each

DAY 1: 25 June 2013 Figure drawing

DAY 1:
2.5 hours
It has been a year since my last actual figure drawing class.  I feel so rusty. But to help motivate me to become better faster I will be posting each day we have class, and probably my sketchbook assignments on days we don't have class.

Heh, forgot to keep posting in all the busy-ness

A couple speed paints (under 10 minutes each) I did a few weeks ago before class. Both are from pictures I got while in Indonesia many years ago. One of my friends took the first one and I took the second.

EDIT: It took me 40 minutes total, 20 each, somehow my brain divided the 20 by 2 and not the 40 by 2...Thats why I'm not an engineer anymore.

So the other day...

I was walking to work after classes
and I heard this old familiar song
I hadn't heard this song in awhile
 and as it got louder
I needed to see where it was coming from
 A rather unexpected source
A tough looking guy in a sedan
(It's funnier when I think of him in a sports car though)
Obviously I was going to smile
It was a sight to behold, then he...
 GLARED
 !!
Not my fault he likes Hanson
